Grown in Britian Certified since 2013 – your guarantee of quality and sustainability
Oxford Charcoal’s full membership of the Grown in Britain program and certification ensures, that we follow the strict GiB standards to deliver sustainable products to you from legal and sustainable UK sources in accordance with the UK Government’s Timber Procurement Policy and the UK Forestry Standard.
However, it is important to recognise that there are significant differences between the FSC, Made in the UK and GiB schemes relating to wood products. FSC is an international, non-governmental organisation which promotes responsible management of the world’s forests. Whilst ‘Made in UK’ goes some way to add value to the local economy, it may include imported components. In contrast GiB ensures that the timber is from sustainable woodlands from a UK Forestry Standard compliant supplied who has a management plan in place.
We label all products that are 100% British with the GiB certificate.

Grown in Britain has responsible licence holders covering large and small woodlands and a wide range of products, from construction timbers to Christmas Trees. These licence holders have all been assured against our standard which means they are from legal and sustainable UK sources in accordance with the UK Government’s Timber Procurement Policy and the UK Forestry Standard.
